Toni Braxton Hospitalized: Lupus 'Flare-Ups' Are the Cause

Several hours after The BoomBox posted an interview with Tamar Braxton, news comes that her sister Toni Braxton is out of the hospital after experiencing a "flare-up" with lupus, which is the cause of her absence from a 'Braxton Family Values' press event Wednesday (Jan. 11).

The 'More Than a Woman' songstress spoke with TMZ upon her exit from a California hospital. Braxton wanted to clear the air about her recent struggle with the disease, which she had been battling publicly since 2010.

"I wanted to say thanks to all my fans for their support, as I have been experiencing some flare ups with my Lupus which has me in the hospital for a few days [sic]," the 'He Wasn't Man Enough' singer stated to TMZ.

Beyonce is busy tending to her newborn daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born Jan. 7, but that doesn't mean she's forgotten about her fans. To satisfy her loyal supporters while she acts on her motherly duties, the Houston native has released new visuals for her '4' smash 'Love on Top.'

She debuted the original video for 'Love on Top' in October, wearing a black bodysuit and military-inspired cap and showing no signs of being pregnant. In her new visuals, filmed during the summer of 2011 at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, the 30-year-old songstress is without her baby bump as well, shimmying across the stage and commanding the crowd in a mini metallic dress.

The former Destiny's Child frontwoman performed for a sold-out crowd in the clip. During her Roseland set, which commenced on Aug. 14, 2011 and hit Aug. 16, 18 and 19, she welcomed four backup singers and an all-girl band to assist her.

Jennifer Hudson has enlisted the help of Miami rap don Rick Ross and lauded crooner Ne-Yo to showcase their talents on her new song, 'Think Like a Man,' a song featured in the movie of the same title, based off Steve Harvey's best-selling book 'Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.'

On the song, featured on InFlexWeTrust.com, the R&B singer details a relationship that went from sweet to sour because of a man that "messed things up." "In between lust and love, you go and messed things up/ Now there's no we babe, there's just you and there's me babe," she sings.

Ne-Yo joins the 'Dreamgirls' actress, who is currently promoting her new book 'I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down.' As reported by AOL Music, Jennifer Lopez has found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time. The entertainer is currently serving as the celebrity face of Fiat, but little did she know she would soon come under some serious fire for endorsing the Italian car company.

Yesterday (Jan. 12), non-profit advocacy group United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) publicly challenged Lopez and her ties to Fiat -- a company the organization alleges has direct ties to Iran's illegal nuclear missile program.

The president for UANI addressed the following statement to Lopez, "By endorsing Fiat, you are serving as a spokesperson for a company that freely does business with a regime that is developing an illegal nuclear weapons program, financing and sponsoring terrorist groups including al-Qaeda, has killed American and NATO soldiers and is recognized as one of the world's leading human rights violators."

Australian scientist have named a rare horse fly after none other than Beyonce. But what was it that encouraged the taxonomists to name the insect after the superstar? Apparently its unique, golden bottom reminded them of the 'Bootylicious' singer!

The Scaptia (Plinthina) beyonceae fly inhabits Australia's far north Queensland and was first collected by researchers in 1981, the year of Beyonce's birth. Bryan Lessard from Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) claimed that the bug's bright behind makes it one of the "all-time diva of flies." On the other hand, the fly is mostly considered a pest. That doesn't sound very diva-like to us.

Cyndi Lauper recently joined a growing list of artists who have had their songs used in political ads or campaigns without permission. Earlier this week Lauper found out her song 'True Colors' was placed in an online ad discrediting Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"Got a phone call saying my version of True Colors was used in commercial trashing Romney," Lauper said in a string of tweets yesterday (Jan. 12). "1st, I never approved it. Not that I his a supporter, I'm not. But I wouldn't have wanted that song to be used in that way. I think...Whoever used my song should have asked, and 2, realized that Mr Romney can discredit himself without the use of my work. X cyn."

Bob Dylan Honors Martin Scorsese by Growling Out 'Blind Willie McTell'

Dragonette, Deadmau5 and Sheepdogs Up For Canadian Radio Music Awards

'Hello,' the genre-bending hit single from Martin Solveig and Dragonette, is up in five categories at this year's Canadian Radio Music Awards. The awards – "celebrating first-time top charting Canadian artists" and now in its 15th year -- will be handed out during a gala luncheon at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York Hotel on March 23 as part of Canadian Music Week.

The song is in the CHR (contemporary hit category) and will go up against Deadmau5's 'Sofi Needs A Ladder' in the Dance/Urban/Rhythmic category. 'Hello' is also up for SOCAN Song of the Year alongside Simple Plan's 'Jet Lag' and Fefe Dobson's 'Stuttering' among others. "'HELLO' IS NOW OFFICIALLY PLATINUM IN THE U.S.," the group tweeted on Jan. 4. "Hellaplatinum! Hooray to the US and our 1million favorite Americans!"

Their new video for 'After Midnight' is a touching narrative that follows two depressed teens in a psychiatric ward, and now you can take an exclusive look behind the scenes of the shoot.

John Stamos to Perform With the Beach Boys During 50th Anniversary Tour

Actor extraordinaire John Stamos dropped an awesome-bomb on the world Thursday night when he revealed to TMZ's snooping cameras that he will take part in the Beach Boys reunion. The surviving members of the group have not performed together since Brian Wilson stopped touring in 1966, and with the addition of honorary Beach Boy Stamos, it will once again be a full house.

A likely inebriated Uncle Jesse was at Los Angeles' Comedy Store when he confirmed rumors of involvement that had been circulating since the band announced their 2012 tour, saying that the Beach Boys had "asked me to be part of the show ... I feel very honored." He then promptly went to go hang out with a guy who looks like Jesus.

Mavis Staples began her singing career in 1950 as a God-fearing gospel belter alongside her sisters in a family band. But as America began confronting its racial demons in the following decade, the Staple Singers joined the uprising.

Roebuck "Pops" Staples, a close friend of Martin Luther King, Jr and the band's songwriter and guitarist, steered his daughters beyond the spiritual to address more pressing earthly concerns. Adele Performing at the Brit Awards, Possibly the Grammys?

Adele will make her long-awaited return to the stage on Feb. 21 at the Brit Awards, organizers for the event confirmed. This will be her first appearance since she underwent vocal-cord surgery in November.

"F---ing happy, thank you for the nods xx," Adele tweeted on Thursday, responding to her three nominations at the Brits.

Now, the big question is whether or not she'll be able to perform at the Grammys, where she's up for six nominations, including Song and Record of the Year for 'Rolling in the Deep' and Album of the Year for '21.' The ceremony will take place on Feb. 12.

Increasingly troubled singer Sinead O'Connor is calling it quits on her marriage for the second time in as many months. She announced her intention to split with her husband, Barry Herridge, in the same fashion that she has shared every other detail of her life in recent months, minute or momentous -- via the Internet. The breakup comes after a particularly harrying week for O'Connor, in which she overdosed on pills, broke her ankle, and issued a cry for psychiatric help on Twitter.

Concerning her marriage, the Irish singer wrote on her blog, "The behaviour of one particular paper resulted in very serious damage to my husband and myself personally and consequently made the marriage untenable so that it is now over and I hope the media will kindly leave the poor man alone to get on with his life."

Sinead O'Connor Suicide Attempt: Singer Admits to Overdosing on Pills Last Week

After pleading for psychiatric help on Twitter, Sinead O'Connor has revealed that she tried to commit suicide last week.

The Irish singer admitted to the attempt to U.K. newspaper The Sun. "I took an overdose," O'Connor said. "God obviously wants me around -- though I can't think why."

The 45-year-old O'Connor's overdose took place last Thursday, Jan. 5, in Los Angeles. Then, The Sun reports, she thought of trying again just two days ago while she was being treated in an Irish hospital for a broken ankle. As for her Twitter plea, O'Connor said, "I just had to make a cry for help."

Conductor Stops New York Philharmonic Concert After Cell Phone Interruption

Whether you're at the movies or the symphony, before the show you are always prompted to do one thing: Turn off your cell phone. But at a recent performance of Mahler's Ninth Symphony at the New York Philharmonic, someone did not heed the warning.

According to the Daily Mail, venerable conductor Alan Gilbert was on the final page of the chilling piece. The strings had come to roaring crescendo as some of Mahler's most emotional music sauntered toward the end. Suddenly, the calming silence was broken.

A marimba sounded. But not just any old marimba -- an iPhone marimba.

A front-row spectator had not turned off his phone, which chimed and chimed during the Philharmonic's epic climax. Classical music blogger Michael Jo reports, "When we reached that passage, as Alan Gilbert turned to the first violins and the sound grew ever more hushed and veiled, the unmistakable chimes of the iPhone Marimba ringtone resounded loud and clear throughout Avery Fisher Hall."

Velvet Underground Sues Andy Warhol Foundation for 'Banana' Copyright Infringement

Nearly 45 years after a banana appeared on their iconic 1967 debut album, the Velvet Underground are suing the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts citing copyright infringement and seeking unspecified damages.

According to the New York Post -- and also reported by Exclaim -- Lou Reed and John Cale claim the image's use on products like iPad cases and shoulder bags is deceiving, leading people to believe the group have allowed the "sponsorship or approval" to these products. The lawsuit was filed in a Manhattan federal court.

"It is not merely the graphic reproduction by Andy Warhol of a piece of fruit: it is the 'iconic' VU banana," the suit says. "Inasmuch as the Warhol Foundation has such a large number of Andy Warhol designs, all of which are presumably unique works that are highly valued in the marketplace, there would appear to be no economic need to include the banana design among the designs that defendant licenses," court papers state.
